Position Requirements

The Governing Board seeks a highly energetic education professional who has a background in teaching and educational leadership.  The successful candidate will possess the skills necessary to continue the Districts commitment to excellence while focused on improvement of service and outcomes.

Requirements of Applicants
  • Current Arizona Superintendent’s Certificate held or have applied for at the time of application
  • Teaching experience in a public school system
  • Five years’ experience as a school principal or district administrator
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited university              

Preferred Attributes
  • Demonstrated success in developing collaborative efforts among district departments, personnel, federal, national, state, and city governmental entities and organizations.
  • Demonstrated success in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated success in improving student academic outcomes
  • Fluency in English and Spanish
  • Experience as a District Level Administrator in Arizona
  • Experience as a district public school administrator

  • Skill in building community with parents, civic leaders, families, and stakeholders
  • Skill in building a collaborative culture within the district
  • Knowledge of national, federal, state and District laws, rules, and regulations related to the operation and management of school districts and personnel.

Salary and Contract Terms
Glendale Union High School District offers competitive salary and benefit packages for all employees. The actual salary for the successful candidate will be determined during contract negotiations and will be based on experience, professional preparation, and will be competitive with large suburban Arizona school districts.  The District offers an excellent benefit package that will be finalized during contract negotiations.

Glendale Union High School District has engaged the services of the Arizona School Administrators Association to direct a search for qualified candidates. Each candidate/finalist will visit the district at his/her expense to be interviewed by the Governing Board. Governing Board members may visit the communities of selected candidates as part of the final selection process.
